- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment scheduling.
- Conduct bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and account analysis to support sound financial management.
- Assist with audit preparations, including supporting documentation for external auditors and internal reviews.
- Maintain detailed journal entries, ensure proper debits & credits application, and support accrual accounting practices.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial report writing to facilitate strategic decision-making.
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms to streamline processes.
- Ensure compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory standards relevant to public accounting or governmental agencies.
- Administer payroll (35 staff) and facilitate the purchase order process.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems.
- Experience with non-profit accounting, or governmental accounting is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and general ledger management.
- Skilled in financial analysis, cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
- Familiarity with securities law and private equity concepts is a plus for certain roles within the organization.
- Ability to interpret complex financial reports and prepare clear financial statements aligned with industry standards.
- Strong attention to detail combined with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication skills for mentoring team members and collaborating across departments.
