What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assembly Machine Operator position at Vico Products?
OFF-SHIFT POSITION
M-Th 4pm-2am; F (if scheduled) 2pm-10pm; Sa (if scheduled) 12pm-6pm;
General Summary
Responsible for the operation of a manually fed assembly machine, and/or other machines that perform the secondary manufacturing process in the production of brake caliper pins and other automotive components while monitoring the quality of produced parts through the use of various gaging techniques.
Specific Duties
Will consist of, but not be limited to, the following:
- Turning on and staring up machines
- Maintain up-time production logs that justify downtime
- Maintain SPC Logs used to track production quality/performance of run
- Perform in-process quality inspections before and after part runs to ensure quality through the use of various gauging techniques
- Authorized to shut down machine when quality falls outside of specification
- Notify supervisors, quality control staff, and set-up technicians when quality falls outside of specification to make quick corrections to limit machine down-time
- Perform all work from written work instructions
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Promote the 5S housekeeping philosophy & safe operation of all production equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement workshops/projects.
- Adhere to company policies as described in the Employee Handbook.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Pre-qualification and abilities
- Able to read and interpret blue prints.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, squat, and carry up to 35 lbs.
- Must be able to walk/stand for up to 10 hours per day.
- Able to use quality gages such as Calipers, Micrometers, Comparators, attribute gages, etc.
