What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weekend Supervisor (RN) position at VICARS LANDING 1?
The primary purpose of this position is to manage staffing, direct care management and support, and emergencies within the community’s health service lines - including Skilled Nursing Facility, Assisted Living Facility, and Memory Care settings at Sawgrass and Oak Bridge campuses – within regulatory guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage staffing for the weekend shifts, including taking a resident and medication pass assignment, if needed.
- Assist the Nursing Team and Staff Development Coordinator with in-services, trainings, and competency evaluations for the weekend shift.
- Supervise and direct licensed nurses (RNs/LPNs) and CNAs during weekend shifts to ensure quality care and staff performance.
- Manage and/or provide response for medical emergency calls within the Independent Living community.
- Conduct audits to ensure routine functions including charting, assessments, proper medication storage, crash cart equipment checks, and other administrative tasks as assigned, are complete.
- Manage nursing department response during non-medical emergencies (e.g., tornados, loss of power, etc.).
- Provide support during survey processes and implement training-related corrective actions when necessary.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audit programs, and root cause analyses as needed.
- Support the Infection Preventionist in training staff on infection control practices such as standard precautions, PPE usage, hand hygiene and monitoring compliance.
- Act as a resource and mentor for nursing staff.
- Oversee weekend admissions, transfers and discharges.
- Identify any procedural areas of improvement and collaborate with Director of Nursing to resolve issues.
- Provide nursing management and on-call rotation with daily shift report before end of shift.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Licensed Nurses (i.e. Charge Nurses, Staff Nurses, Clinic Manager, Supervisors, Director of Nurses) who are assigned to the Health Center are placed in Category I due to their direct contact with bodily fluids in accordance with their assigned duties as follows:
1. Catharizing residents, obtaining and handling laboratory specimens of urine, feces, sputum drainage,
blood etc.
2. Giving injections with the potential for accidental needle sticks.
3. Starting intravenous infusion lines and maintaining I.V. lines.
4. Performing various wound care type treatments.
5. Handling of urine, feces, vomitus, mucus, and drainage, from wounds, while performing hygiene care for the residents.
6. Emptying and cleaning urinals, bedpans, emesis basins, drainage receptacles.
7. Inserting changing and irrigating catheters, nasal gastric tubes, and gastrostomy tubes, irrigating
intravenous tubing's, INT type needles.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a valid and current R.N. License in the State of Florida.
- Must be able to write, read, and speak the English language.
- Must possess and maintain a valid and current CPR certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
2. Must be able to speak the English language is an understandable manner.
3. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
4. Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position are fully met.
5. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
6. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
7. Must be able to relate to work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotional upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility.
8. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
9. Must be free of communicable diseases.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Must have, as a minimum, one (1) years’ experience in Skilled Nursing Facility/Long-term Care Facility, or Assisted Living Facility.
2. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
3. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability.
