VCA Shoreline Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center in Shelton, Connecticut is seeking a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join the Emergency Department as the Emergency Room Liaison. Minimum of 1 year experience working in a veterinary practice required. Must have medical knowledge and be capable of discussing medical situations with owners (confirming CPR status of patient, discussing treatment options, etc.) Compensation: $ 18 – 25 / hour dependent on skill set, experience, and licensure status. If this describes you, we want you on our team! In this position, you will work hand in hand with our Emergency Department. Your responsibilities will include such things as: Client communication: Client updates (in the waiting room and over the phone), calling owners with status updates/ lab results, going over discharge instructions, creating and going over estimates, follow up phone calls, etc Record Keeping: Sending referral letters, scanning and/or faxing records, calling referral veterinarians for medical records, entering charges, etc Filling prescriptions and going over prescription instructions with clients. Restraint of patients Submitting and running laboratory tests Coordinating triages with doctors Other duties as assigned Perhaps the greatest asset you will bring is your emotional intelligence.
