What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at Vibrant Coffee Roasters & Bakery?
We are looking for a hard-working, fermentation-loving Baker to prepare sourdough bread/bagels/croissants/cinnamon buns, and a few other quick pastries such as muffins and cookies. Baker responsibilities include opening the bakery early in the morning, mixing dough, boiling bagels, preparing fillings, baking bread/bagels/pastries, and keeping your work area clean. Some knowledge of and experience with fermentation and lamination is a huge plus. Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious baked goods to our customers on a daily basis. You'll be working as part of a small team in a small space with a great work environment. We take great pride in the quality of our work!

Responsibilities
- Open the bakery early in the morning (4am start. 2 10 hour shifts per week, sometimes 3 or 4 if needed to cover for other bakers)
- Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
- Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
- Bake bread, bagels, croissants, cinnamon buns, and other pastries
- Mix various ingredients to create fillings (e.g. chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)
- Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries
- Fill in daily fermentation data
- Keep work area clean
- Communicate any issues to Manager or Owner
Skills
- Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
- Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, proofing cabinets, and ovens
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
- Certification from a culinary school is a plus
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
