Job Description:


SUMMARY

Operate a gas-powered lift truck to receive palletized cartons and handle finished goods within the storeroom and shipping area and to load trucks, labeling cartons, storing, and staging material following standard established methods and procedures.

Perform duties required to drive a box truck to deliver and pick up products and material within one hundred fifty-mile radius and occasionally make trips following established practices and procedures.

Position requires ability to obtain state issued health card. Work to route schedule, Department of Transportation Regulations, Federal, State and Local laws, other rules, regulations, and instructions.

Work from truck lists, skid tickets, item code numbers, other verbal or written instructions or directions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

1. Remove pallets of wrapped cartons from shrink wrap machine and place in staging area according to carton labels. Transport pallets of stock material to finished goods storeroom and loads from stock to shipping. Place full pallets on wrapping machine and operate wrapper, partial pallets go to customer holding area.

2. Locate pallets of material listed on truck list, confirm ID and number of cartons against skid ticket and move skid to staging position for truck loading. Arrange loose packages on pallet and shrink wrap.

3. Load trucks with customer’s orders in sequence of delivery according to truck list. Check off list as material is staged and loaded.

4. Operate gas powered forklift truck to unload incoming material from trucks and transport to storage areas following standard procedures and methods.

5. Enter straight truck bodies and trailers at receiving dock to pick up and remove various raw material items usually on pallets such as bales of rubber, bags of ingredients and barrels of oil.

6. Transport material to raw materials storage area and stack or position in location directed by Inventory Control Specialist. Deliver pallets of cartons to carton storage and arrange in neat and orderly manner. Unload returned pallets and stack in designated area in warehouse.

7. Perform minor routine service to forklift such as changing propane tanks as required. Report needs for additional service or repair to the maintenance department. Perform general material handling duties in shipping and receiving area.

8. Trailers loaded by self or others. Drive to designated delivery locations. Check material being unloaded and obtain signatures for material delivered. May assist in unloading at customers location.

9. Maintain the area in a neat and orderly condition, pick up and stack empty pallets, arrange loads. Follow all safety rules, regulations, and practices in operation of powered lift trucks. Employ all safety equipment and devices.

10. Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.

11. Pick up material at designated vendors or other locations for return trips. Check material being loaded for condition and quantity and sign for receipts. Assure proper loading to prevent damage, for proper load distribution and legal loading.

12. Responsible for maintaining assigned cab in a clean and orderly condition and for observing all laws and regulations while operating motor vehicles on public highways. Employ all safety equipment and devices.

Perform other similar or related duties as assigned including pick customer orders as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Previous warehouse experience preferred

Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

2 years driving experience - local trucking

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
