Vulcanization Process & Reliability Engineer
Responsibilities
- Asset Reliability
- Analyze downtime trends for presses and vulcanization lines
- Improve MTBF and reduce repeat failures
- Develop reliability-centered maintenance strategies
- Standardize press rebuild and overhaul practices
- Process Parameter Control
- Monitor and control key vulcanization parameters (temperature, pressure, cure time, Vacuum)
- Validate press control logic for parameter stability
- Identify process drift and variation trends
- Partner with Automation Engineer to improve control loop performance
- Ensure parameter alignment with Control Plan
- Production Support
- Provide real-time troubleshooting during production issues
- Support startup and validation after downtime events
- Reduce unplanned production interruptions
- Improve cycle consistency
- Scrap & Quality Reduction
- Analyze scrap trends related to cure parameters
- Lead root cause investigations (8D / 5 Why/Cause Map)
- Develop corrective actions to eliminate repeat scrap
- Partner with Quality and Production to stabilize processes
- Predictive & Condition Monitoring
- Use thermal imaging, pressure validation, and condition monitoring tools
- Identify early failure indicators in heating systems and hydraulics
- Develop predictive maintenance roadmap for presses
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.A.) from a four-year college or university in appropriate technical field.
- Two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Good problem solving skills.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed.
