JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for educating the medical community on all aspects of the Hospital and its services with emphasis on the referral and admission process. Performs on-site clinical assessments to determine appropriate patients for admissions to the Hospital.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
● Demonstrates and understands the importance of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of each patient in all interactions.
● Completes assessment of patients being referred to hospital to determine patient’s clinical needs and appropriateness of admission.
● Able to review and present admission analysis, referral analysis, needs of referral contacts, and how to meet these needs.
● Communicates regularly with managed care on-site reviewers at area hospitals to facilitate referrals.
● Selects the most effective strategy (face-to-face, group presentation, direct mail, tours, workshops, etc.) for each contact. Exchanges ideas, information and messages readily and effectively, both in oral and written form, as required by the job. Provides patient updates to physicians, payers, and other referral sources.
● Work with Clinical departments to coordinate admissions and discharges.
● Observes confidential nature of patient and/or organizational business.
● Completes face-to-face in-services to physicians, case managers and other professionals.
● Identifies potential problem issues or customer satisfaction issues; intervenes appropriately and reports to Director of Community Relations. Or CEO. Develops action plans to track process, conclusion, and follow-up.
● Understands work objectives, establishes priorities, anticipates and handles problems and carries out work activities in an orderly manner to meet defined standards.
● Developing, organizing and educational activities in the medical community and presenting the information.
● Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, neatness, clarity and adherence to high standards of workmanship.
● Responsive to varying needs and new ideas. Follows through on instructions/assignments and aids others.
● Displays a positive/effective working relationship with co-workers, other departments and medical staff. Demonstrate respect, friendliness and helpfulness in dealing with the public in person and/or over the telephone.
● Considers relevant facts, weights alternatives and makes decisions logically in order to perform the job assignment effectively.
● Able to identify and work within departmental budgets, submits expense reports on time, and ensures that budgetary goals are attained.
● Attends local conferences and trade shows at which company representatives may exhibit or attend to achieve the maximum return on investment. Assists in coordinating periodic direct mail campaigns to targeted managed care customers, with the assistance of management. Participate in referral services weekly team meetings.
● Develops individual marketing plans and competitive analysis on time; able to identify opportunities to meet census budget; able to solve problems and implement measures to realize yearly census matrix; uses established reporting mechanisms and provides data and statistics as required. Completes physician profiles and territory/time management reports on time.
● Procedures work on a timely basis and with good quality. Effectively uses own time and time of others. Shows initiative. Contributes, develops and/or carries out new ideas or methods. Establishes schedule based on importance of physician / potential referral source.
● Productivity: Identify potential growth, and current volume and importance to the hospital’s plan.
● Meetings/In-services: Attends departmental and/or staff meetings.
STANDARD JOB DUTIES
● Adheres to all components of the Hospital Compliance Plan in performing job duties and reports any violations or suspected violations of the Plan to the Compliance Officer.
● Demonstrates professional conduct and complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
● Adheres to hospital attendance policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
● Complies with measures for preventing exposure to blood borne pathogens.
● Participates in the Hazardous Material Program; hazards include exposure to blood and body fluids, possible communicable diseases, sharp objects and instruments, assorted chemicals and gases as listed in the Hazardous Materials Program Manual.
● Complies with established Safety and Patient Safety Program practices.
● Performs other incidental and related duties, as required and/or assigned.
● Develops an understanding of responsibilities for recognizing patient abuse and follows policy for making appropriate referrals/interventions.
● Develops an understanding of responsibilities for participation in Performance Improvement activities and participates in such activities.
● Limits access to protected health information (PHI) to the information reasonably necessary to do the job and shares such information only on a need-to-know basis for work purposes.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Associate degree in Nursing or Respiratory Therapy. Bachelor’s degrees are preferred. Two years’ Healthcare/hospital experience with marketing or business development experience.
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of basic computer skills and word processing.
Certificates and Licenses:
Preferred RN in state of employment.
Proof of current valid unrestricted driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Proof of current comprehensive auto liability insurance coverage
