Bindery Machine Operator Combo (Cut, Fold, Stitch)

Position Summary:

The Bindery Combo Machine Operator is responsible for the set up and operation of programmable paper cutters (Polar, Itotec), Folders (MBO, Stahl, Standard Horizon, and Stitchers (Heidelberg, Standard Horizon), as well as other machines that may be used in the bindery. The operator must ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, and that all jobs are completed correctly, on time, and within budget. The operator must also have excellent problem-solving skills, as they will be responsible for troubleshooting any machine malfunctions that may occur. Additionally, the operator must be able to read and understand complex instructions, as well as follow safety procedures. Will work in a fast-paced environment and will be expected to develop and grow by learning operations of all Bindery machines.

Duties/Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.

• Inspect and examine printed products for accuracy, conformance to specifications, and external defects.
• Set up and operate bindery machines to cut, fold, stitch, and other duties as assigned.
• Examine job orders to determine details such as quantities to be produced, production times, and stock specifications.
• Load, position, and adjust unprinted materials on holding fixtures or in equipment loading and feeding mechanisms.
• Pack and label cartons, boxes, or bins of finished products.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ minimum experience setting up Bindery equipment preferred.
• Ability to operate bindery machines
• Ability to work with a variety of materials
• Ability to detect and report malfunctions
• Must be able to read English and understand basics of job tickets.
• Able to work overtime as necessary.
• Able to work in a fast paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Able to function independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
• Good problem resolution skills
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Work in a manufacturing or warehouse setting about 95% of the time.
• Work in an office setting about 5% of the time.
• Sedentary/sitting for about 5% of the time
• Walking and standing about 95% of the time
• Ability to lift-up to 25 lbs. on occasion.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
