What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President position at Vianovo?
For over twenty years, Vianovo has guided Fortune 100 companies, investment funds, and major institutions through the moments that define them. Congressional inquiries. Government investigations. Activist attacks. High-stakes litigation. Reputation battles that play out in public. We operate at the C-suite level, and we bring the discipline and strategic background forged on campaign trails and in senior government roles to every client engagement.
We are adding a Vice President to our Austin office.
The Role
Vianovo's partners lead the work. That is a commitment we make to every client, and it does not change. This role exists because we need a senior operator who can drive projects forward, write at the highest level, and ensure that every deliverable meets the standard our clients expect.
As Vice President, you will work directly alongside our partners on the firm's most consequential engagements across brand and reputation, public affairs, and crisis. You will help shape strategy, drive communications, and carry accounts forward with the kind of judgment that earns trust from serious clients. You will think ahead, perform under pressure, and bring a point of view to the work.
This is not a coordinator role. It is a role for someone who has been in high-pressure environments, understands what is at stake, and knows how to perform when the margin for error is small.
What You Will Do
- Work shoulder to shoulder with partners on the firm’s client engagements, with shared responsibility for strategy, execution, and outcomes.
- Lead and participate in client meetings, setting agendas, and driving alignment
- Write across a wide range of formats: strategic memos, executive talking points, op-eds, press materials, stakeholder outreach, and communications plans.
- Anticipate client needs before they surface and stay ahead of fast-moving situations.
- Consistently raise the bar on the quality of work across the team.
What We Are Looking For
- 7–10 years of experience in communications, public affairs, or a closely related field.
- You have worked in government, campaigns, senior agency roles, in-house communications, or some combination.
- You can run a meeting and manage a portfolio of accounts.
- You are comfortable with Generative AI platforms and use them to work smarter, not as a substitute for judgment.
- You have managed media: shaped a narrative, handled a difficult press cycle, or prepared an executive for a tough interview.
- You understand how government works from the inside: who makes decisions, who has influence, and how to operate effectively in that environment.
- You have owned client relationships.
- You are comfortable working alongside partners and you know when to push back and how to do it.
- You write at a high level across various formats: memos, talking points, op-eds, press materials, and communications plans.
- Texas experience is a plus.
