The Fiber Optic Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of fiber optic installation crews. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and in compliance with company standards and client specifications. The Foreman will lead by example, manage resources, and maintain high-quality workmanship while adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee fiber optic technicians and laborers during installation, splicing, and testing activities.
- Plan daily work schedules, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion of tasks according to project timelines.
- Oversee all Dig ups, and verify that everything is intact and ready to be backfilled
- Ensure all tools and equipment are available for each project and inventory before dispatching to the site.
- Inspect work for compliance with specifications, standards, and safety requirements.
- Enforce company safety policies, conduct daily safety briefings, and ensure proper use of PPE and equipment.
- Interpret fiber splicing diagrams, prints, and work scopes; assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained, inspected, and operated correctly.
- Complete daily reports, maintain accurate records of work performed, and communicate progress to project managers.
- Represent the company professionally on job sites and address client concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in fiber optic installation or related telecommunications field.
- 1 year in a supervisory role or demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic splicing, testing, and installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Able to accommodate extended travel and overnight stays as required by project location.
- Certifications: OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, DOT Certification, preferred or able to obtain
- Experience with OTDR, power meters, and fusion splicing equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project documentation tools.
- Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record for the past 3-5 years, valid driver's license, clean or acceptable criminal background check, and clean substance screening.
