As a Senior Backend Engineer at Via, you’ll work within our core R&D center as a member of our Platform team. You’ll be part of a team of developers and devops engineers, directly contributing to our product by using cutting-edge technologies. You’ll take a critical part in our mission to shape the future of transportation, affecting tens of thousands of riders daily worldwide.
The Platform Group is a cross-functional group dedicated to building and maintaining the robust foundation on which Via operates. This team is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD systems, shared services and tools that power our development and production environments.
What You'll Do:
- Define infrastructure and standards for engineering teams across the company.
- Design, implement and deliver services and tools for running infrastructure at scale.
- Research and recommend new technologies for our shared platform.
- Develop a deep understanding of the software and architecture at Via.
- Build CI/CD automation and templates with GitLab.
- Build, maintain and operate AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot mission-critical services, automating remediation to prevent recurrences.
- Work closely with partner teams across the company to enable success.
Who You Are:
- 5 years of experience building robust backend or full-stack software systems.
- 3 years experience maintaining efficient production systems at scale or maintaining production environments (e.g. Devops/SRE).
- Expertise with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
- Experience with networking, distributed systems, SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Commitment to a collaborative distributed environment imbued with professionalism, integrity, passion, and accountability.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable
- Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year
