Description
- Insurance Verification
- Verifies Medicare, Medicaid, & Commercial Payors eligibility and/or benefits through a clearinghouse, insurance portal, and/or phone call.
- Adds, Deletes, and/or updates payors on patients’ account.
- Obtains palliative authorizations as needed.
- Authorizations
- Obtains palliative authorizations as needed by the payor’s guidelines and provide back-up coverage for hospice authorizations.
- Submit requested forms and/or medical records according to the payor’s requirement.
- Monitor workflow to submit timely reauthorization requests.
- Provide back-up coverage for Sr. Reimbursement Coordinator.
May perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in billing, insurance verification, and obtaining authorizations in a healthcare facility.
Computer efficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must be able to utilize a computer and calculator. Must have sensory abilities to process, review and correct detailed patient financial information and claims. Good communication skills with sensitivity are required to ensure accurate insurance is obtained. Must be able to handle various contacts and work under pressure and deadlines.
- Working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial payers, Workers’ Compensation and Medicare Replacement plans.
- Experience with NCTracks preferred, not required.
- Experience with eCW and/or Homecare Homebase software preferred, not required.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to deal with a variety of variables under limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions.
- Mathematics Ability: Ability to perform significant math skills, use of decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to compute rates, variances, mean, mode, medians, and other primary statistical measurements including compounds and simple fractions.
Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, and instruction manuals. Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent), and variation in word order using present, perfect, and future tenses. Must be able to communicate effectively with team daily regarding workflow and issues.
