Purpose & Scope
The Clinician is to function in an extending role by directing and coordinating the care of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients using protocols and standards which have been developed to direct the management of patient care. The functions are performed in collaboration with cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons.
Education
Master's degree in nursing to be obtained within 24 months.
Experience
One year of experience in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery or advanced practice nursing is required.
Certification/Licensure
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or a Compact State Licensure in Nursing is required.
Licensed Nurse Practitioner by the Virginia Department of Health Professions is preferred.
