You’ll work alongside transportation planners, environmental scientists, engineers, and other experts to deliver transformative projects throughout Tampa and across Florida. Our diverse project portfolio includes mixed-use developments, national homebuilders, healthcare and commercial campuses, industrial parks, and iconic destinations like amusement parks.
Notable projects include Water Street Tampa and The Grow along with key initiatives for municipalities, local governments, and State DOTs throughout the eastern U.S.

Responsibilities
- Develop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale institutional, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
- Help build and lead a team of civil engineering professionals.
- Provide technical and career guidance as a mentor to staff.
- Support preparation of land development design and permitting documents.
- Assist in project task scope, budget and schedule management.
- Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designed.
- Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues.
- Supervise design team activities during Construction Administration.
- Manage work and development of junior level staff.
- Manage small, medium, or large tasks.
- Support business development activities, including identifying new opportunities, developing client relationships, and preparing technical proposals and fee estimates.
- Help expand VHB’s footprint across Tampa and the broader Florida market through strategic pursuits, networking, and proactive client engagement.
- Participate in strategy discussions for client pursuits and collaborate with leadership to grow market presence in Florida’s land development sector.
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships while actively increasing VHB’s visibility through professional organization involvement and community presence.
Skills and Attributes
- Highly proficient in MS Office, ICPR and/or StormWise, WaterCAD, StormCAD or similar software, and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion/sediment control, and stormwater management
- Knowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulations
- Knowledge of construction materials and detailing, including detail drawings, sections, and material specifications
- Excellent innovative design skills
- Strong, creative engineering skills and ability to adhere to office standards
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ability to think critically
- Excels at working in a team environment
- Strong client engagement, proposal writing, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to support or lead business development initiatives
- Exhibits strong leadership skills and growth potential
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field
- 8 years of professional site/civil engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experience
- PE licensure required
- Experience in the Florida market, particularly the greater Tampa area, is required.
