Land Development Intern - Summer 2027

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Washington, D.C. offices is seeking a Land Development Intern to join the team for Summer 2027.

This internship is designed to introduce students into the workforce. The program will build essential professional skills by offering opportunities for hands-on learning in a supportive yet challenging environment. The intern program is designed to round out participants' academic learning with real world experience and help them explore related areas of practice to find the best fit for their career path.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
• Assist in development of planning and engineering solutions
• Assist in data mining and visualization
• Perform analysis of data or calculations
• Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
• Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports

Skills and Attributes

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Team oriented with strong capability to work independently
• Self-motivated with attention to detail
• A strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieve
• Knowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GIS
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering

The hourly pay range for this position, located in Washington, D.C., is $19 to $30. The actual hourly rate offered will be determined based on job-related factors, including geographic location, internal equity, experience, credentials, skills, education, work schedule, and other factors permitted by law. The posted hourly range reflects base pay only. Additional compensation and benefits available to eligible employees are outlined in our Total Rewards Program.
