ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s Maine office is looking for an Engineering Technician to join the team.
In this position, you would play an integral role in the planning, design and detailing of highway and other transportation related projects – including traffic and bridges. The ideal candidate should possess a “can-do” attitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to work independently as well as with a team in a dynamic, fast-paced, and fun environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform modeling and design for highway and other transportation infrastructure projects
- Prepare construction documents, including plans, estimates, and calculation packages
- Provide technical support to highway engineering staff
- Provide project management support
Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical skills in highway design
- Experience developing design reports, plans, and construction cost estimates
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated and commitment to learning
- Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking
- Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
- Bentley OpenRoads experience is a strong plus
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Equivalent relevant engineering experience of 1-3 years (may include co-op/internship experience)
