Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming
- Monitor and document clients’ vital signs, health status, and behavioral changes to inform care plans
- Administer medications following HIPAA regulations and prescribed protocols
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Support clients during community outings or activities to promote social engagement and independence
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning common areas and personal spaces
- Follow established care plans and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive support
Skills
- Proven experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize signs of distress or health issues
- Certification in CPR and First Aid; experience with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or memory care is highly valued
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's
lifts - Strong communication skills for working effectively with individuals with autism or disabilities and their families
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
- Compassionate caregiving attitude combined with patience and resilience in challenging situations
