Required Education and Experience:
- High School graduation or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must obtain State of Texas class C vehicle operators license within 30 days of employment.
- Inability to obtain license may result in termination.
- Ability to work with reduced levels of managerial oversight.
- Effective communication with campus population.
- Physical and mental capabilities for outside working conditions and shift work.
- Work non-business hours shifts starting at or after 4:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 a.m.
- Ability to operate two-wheel self-balancing mobile patrol unit.
- Multitasking and cooperative work with others.
- Background investigation including driving history, criminal background and credit history.
- College courses in criminal justice or behavioral science programs.
- Prior public contact employment.
- Patrols buildings and grounds on foot or car, identifying suspicious activity, unlocked doors, fires, vandalism, and deterring crime by presence.
- Provides on-site security in designated buildings, such as libraries, athletic facilities, and research laboratories, as well as TAMU property off campus.
- Assists visitors, students, and employees, directing inquiries to appropriate personnel.
- Supports University Police during special events, e.g. football games, yell practice.
- Performs other assigned duties.
