Job Description
Position Summary:
Assist implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure all regulatory, customer, corporate, and other requirements are planned and executed. Position includes primary shipyard and its ancillary location(s), e.g. Naval Stations and warehouses.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain programs, procedures, and requirements to ensure environmental compliance obligations are appropriately planned and executed.
Implement, and maintain data collection processes to capture information required to meet compliance obligations, including stormwater sampling, EMS auditing and multi-media site inspections and recordkeeping.
Analyze environmental data and records to assess the adequacy, accuracy, and completeness of information as required for all regulatory programs. Such programs may include, but are not limited to EMS, air quality, wastewater, drinking water, stormwater, NPDES, hazardous waste, SPCC, over-water transfers, and others.
Prepare environmental reports, environmental data tables, permit applications and amendments, and other regulatory data for submission to corporate office and/or upload to corporate, local, state, and federal regulatory databases.
Assist in implementing and maintaining pollution prevention and waste minimization programs. Conduct waste determinations, sampling, and classifications to ensure proper handling and disposal and waste reduction. Such programs are to be aligned with Corporate objectives for sustainability.
Serve as on-scene Incident Coordinator for oil and hazardous materials incidents, providing a rotating 24/7 on-call availability based on operational demands.
Conduct spill investigations, determine causes, and issue corrective actions to responsible parties.
Liaison with regulatory, corporate, subcontractor, and customer personnel, as required.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required to meet business objectives.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in the Environmental/Health/Safety field, or 4 years related work experience or the overall equivalent experience.
General knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to environmental matters.
Knowledge in chemistry of hazardous materials/waste, training in hazardous waste management (RCRA).
Experience with data analysis and calculations/quantification.
Knowledge in evaluating laboratory reports including use of appropriate methods, reporting limits and results, and application against site requirements.
Knowledge in ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint).
Must be able to board all ships and enter all spaces regardless of size to complete inspections and ensure compliance of environmental rules.
Must be able to obtain DBIDS access to Naval Facilities.
Experience working within a shipyard or manufacturing environment.
Computer skills to work proficiently in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and related industry software applications.

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
