What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator position at Vetio Animal Health?

Primary Function:

Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Vetio’s safety programs and policies, ensuring that the organization is in compliance with all health, environmental, and safety regulations. This includes conducting risk assessments/audits and continuously training employees on safety policies and practices while promoting a strong safety culture. The EH&S Coordinator works with others to establish effective systems and processes to ensure regulatory compliance, minimize costs, and maximize efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

· Develop, implement, and maintain the company’s safety program in accordance with regulatory compliance and company objectives

· Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective safety training programs

· Perform continuous monthly and annual training for all employees on EHS SOP, policies, regulatory training, best practices, and emergency response protocols

· Drive Safety Committee meetings to address safety concerns and share best practices to drive continuous improvement

· Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and EHS violations

· Conduct regular unannounced walk-throughs of work areas and talk to the personnel to identify their concerns. Effectively communicate safety and health issues to all staff

· Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses. Identify root causes to determine corrective or preventative measures

· Provide solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards

· Follow and ensure compliance of the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the current Food Safety System

· Maintain relevant EHA logs, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations

· Oversee hazardous waste storage area, waste reduction monitoring, and ensure regulatory agency compliance, labeling, containments, proper disposal, and documentation

· Train, certify, and re-certify forklift drivers (sit down and stand up), and scissor lift drivers

· Follow up with the Maintenance Department on the preventive maintenance schedule of heavy and/or high-risk equipment

· Monitor proper use of PPE and suggest changes to improve when needed

· Collaborate with regulatory agencies, contractors, ADP Risk Consultants, and other external stakeholders as needed

· Keep records of days without accidents and other KPIs

· Partner with HR Manager on Worker’s Compensation Claims and other related safety compliance

· Bachelor's or degree in safety or related field preferred, which may be considered in lieu of directly applicable work experience.

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Environmental, Health, and Safety position in a manufacturing environment (required)

· Possesses a proactive mentality while being a hands-on change agent

· Proven experience in developing strategic plans, methods, and tracking measures to improve the overall EHS program

· Bilingual (Spanish) (Preferred)

· Comprehensive understanding of Quality Management System, environmental, health and safety management practices, principles, and procedures

· Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets

· Strong leadership and training abilities

· CPR/AED certified, a plus

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Pay: From $28.00 per hour
