Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies is seeking an experienced and Specialty Float Veterinary Assistant to join our Emergency and Internal Medicine teams in Castle Rock, Colorado. As a Specialty Float Veterinary Assistant, you’ll provide essential support to our Emergency and Internal Medicine teams, assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with the care of hospitalized, urgent, and medically complex patients. You’ll help with patient handling and monitoring, treatments, diagnostics, maintaining a clean and organized hospital environment, and ensuring our patients receive compassionate, high-quality care. You’ll also play an important role in supporting clients through what can be stressful and uncertain experiences with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication.
The ideal candidate is adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable transitioning between the fast-paced needs of Emergency and the detailed, collaborative care provided by Internal Medicine. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced specialty teams while gaining valuable exposure to a wide range of cases and advanced veterinary medicine.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with ER and Internal Medician exams, triage, and treatments
- Safely restrain and handle patients
- Support patient stabilization and monitoring
- Collect diagnostic samples and assist with radiographs and lab work
- Communicate with clients and provide discharge instructions
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Help keep treatment areas organized and efficient
We offer full-time and part-time opportunities with flexible scheduling from 10am - 8pm.
Compensation & Benefits:

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- At least 3 year of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting (specialty experience preferred but not required)
Proficiency in:
- Client communication and education
- Safely handle and utilize stress-free restaint
- Experience with inpatient and outpatient treatments
- Assist with ultrasounds
- Experience with venipuncture and in-house laboratory equipment
- Experience with monitoring anesthesia is a plus!
