What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician position at Veterinary Medical Center of Blakely?
Veterinary Medical Center is currently in search of an EXPERIENCED FULL TIME Veterinary technician, Certified is preferred but experienced technicans are also welcome. We are looking for someone who has experience and is comfortable with drawing blood, placing IVC, assisting with surgery and monitoring anesthesia, although duties would not be solely limited to those.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following:
- Obtaining and recording patient case histories ·
- Assisting fellow employees and veterinarians in routine, sick and emergency exams ·
- Collecting blood, urine and fecal specimens along with the placement of intravenous catheters·
- Carrying out laboratory procedures using the full IDEXX in-house laboratory. Perform urinalysis, sediments analysis, ear cytology, etc. Process multiple send out lab tests. ·
- Providing individual, hospitalized patient care ·
- Preparing animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery ·
- Calculating, administering and monitoring anesthesia ·
- Assisting Veterinarians in diagnostic medical and surgical procedures ·
- Obtaining and processing digital radiographs ·
- Advising and educating animal owners on a variety of nutritional, behavioral and medical topics. ·
- Performing dental disease prevention and treatment along with educating clients on home dental care. ·
- Knowledge of daily receptionist related responsibilities for some cross trained coverage when needed.
- Ensure exam rooms and surgical rooms are stocked and cleaned- also help maintain a clean environment throughout all areas of the clinic
