Job Summary

The Hospital Practice Manager (Operations Manager) is responsible for leading the hospital's clinical and operational performance by developing a high-performing veterinary technician team, driving efficient workflows, and delivering an exceptional client experience. This role oversees staffing, scheduling, team development, and daily operations while fostering a positive, accountable culture that supports quality patient care and service excellence.

This is a hands-on leadership role and not a desk-only position.

Key Qualifications

  • Veterinary Technician background required and willing to jump in and support the team when needed.
  • 4 years of leadership experience, ideally in a veterinary hospital setting.
  • Experience leading and developing support staff, preferably in a multi-doctor practice.
  • A strong people leader who can build trust, coach team members, and hold others accountable.
  • Experience managing schedules, inventory, workflow, and daily hospital operations.
  • Strong understanding of veterinary medicine, including surgery, diagnostics, and patient care.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable adapting to the needs of a busy hospital environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and veterinary practice management software.

Talent Management

  • Recruit, hire, and retain a strong team of Veterinary Technicians.
  • Help team members grow through coaching, feedback, and ongoing development.
  • Create a positive, supportive culture while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.

Operations Management

  • Oversee scheduling, inventory, workflow, and the day-to-day operations of the hospital.
  • Communicate priorities and keep the team aligned on hospital goals and initiatives.
  • Foster collaboration between departments and encourage open communication.
  • Take ownership of team performance and operational outcomes.
  • Identify challenges, solve problems, and help keep the hospital running smoothly.
  • Step in as a Veterinary Technician when needed to support the team and patient care.

Client & Team Experience

  • Help create a positive experience for clients, patients, and team members.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and community partners.
  • Address concerns professionally and work toward practical solutions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming hospital environment.
  • Lead by example and help reinforce the hospital's culture and values.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work with cleaning products.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and climates.

Compensation

Compensation for this position starts at $60,000 annually and will be based on experience, leadership background, and overall qualifications.

Work Schedule

The schedule for this position is primarily Monday through Friday. Weekend, holiday, or occasional after-hours support may be required based on hospital needs.
