Position Overview
VMD is seeking an experienced Government Contracting Specialist to support and expand our federal contracting operations. This individual will play a key role in managing proposals, contracts, and compliance while helping drive the company’s continued growth within the VA and broader federal healthcare system.
This is a high-impact role for a candidate who understands the government procurement landscape and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit government proposals in response to RFQs, RFPs, and solicitations
- Manage the full contract lifecycle, including onboarding, modifications, renewals, and closeout
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and VA-specific regulations
- Maintain and manage GSA Schedule / FSS contracts, including pricing updates and modifications
- Identify and track opportunities through SAM.gov, GSA eBuy, and other procurement platforms
- Collaborate with manufacturers and internal teams to gather technical, pricing, and past performance data
- Support development of proposal strategies and positioning for competitive bids
- Maintain accurate contract documentation and support audit readiness
- Assist in refining internal processes, templates, and contracting workflows
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in government contracting, procurement, or proposal management
- Experience working with VA, GSA Schedule (FSS), or other federal contracts
- Strong knowledge of FAR / DFARS regulations and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with SAM.gov, GSA eBuy, and federal procurement systems
- Proven ability to manage multiple proposals and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Government Contracting, or related field (preferred)
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with medical devices, healthcare distribution, or capital equipment
- Familiarity with SDVOSB and small business set-aside programs
- Experience with pricing strategy, CLIN structures, and contract negotiation
- Exposure to working with manufacturers and supplier relationships
