The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS) located in Montgomery, AL is seeking a full time Board Certified/Board Eligible Urologist. The selected physician performs a full range of urologic evaluations.

Specific surgical procedures are not specified but will be within the practitioner's scope of practice and limited by the facility capabilities. General classes of cases include but not limited to, prostrate biopsy, TURP, stenting, retrogrades, hydrocele, vasectomy, TUR, bladder neck/tumor, dilatation strictures, GU skin lesions, and circumcisions.

Urologist must remain current on diagnostic and treatment options within their scope of practice. He/She works off-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays as priorities demonstrate a need on a rotating basis.

Normal Work Schedule: Full Time, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.., Monday through Friday (Weekend on Call)

Salary Range: Up to: $295,000 per year

Selected candidate may be eligible for education loan assistance through the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). This is based on fund availability.

Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • U.S. Citizenship (Non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
  • Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:(1)

Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English
  • Urology Board certified/board eligible by American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine
