Veterans Engineering is on the lookout for an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide immediate and comprehensive care to patients presenting with acute medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, you will leverage your clinical skills to diagnose and treat a diverse range of emergencies while collaborating closely with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals. This position allows for a significant impact on patient care and the opportunity to work with our nation’s veterans and their families.ResponsibilitiesProvide on-site Emergency Medicine physician services to Veterans at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in accordance with VA policies, procedures, and clinical standardsEvaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies across a full spectrum of acuityPerform and interpret emergency medical procedures consistent with scope of practice, including resuscitation, stabilization, and trauma care. Deliver patient care in compliance with American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and/or American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) clinical guidelinesCollaborate effectively with VA medical staff, nursing personnel, consultants, and ancillary services to ensure continuity and quality of careEnsure accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the VA electronic medical record system. Participate in on-call coverage, shift rotations, nights, weekends, and Federal holidays as required by Emergency Department operationsMaintain compliance with VA credentialing, privileging, and Joint Commission standards. Support patient safety initiatives, quality assurance, and performance improvement activitiesAdhere to infection control, patient privacy (HIPAA), and VA security protocols at all times. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members while maintaining professionalism and compassionRespond promptly to emergency situations and provide leadership during critical care and high-risk clinical scenarios. Maintain current licensure, board certification/eligibility, and required certifications throughout the period of performanceRequirementsMedical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institutionBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (or related fields with emergency experience)Current, active medical license in the state where practice occursBLS, ACLS, and applicable emergency certifications requiredDemonstrated clinical experience providing emergency medical care in an acute care or emergency department setting Proficiency in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating high-acuity emergency conditions, including trauma and medical emergencies Ability to perform emergency procedures within scope of practice, including resuscitation, stabilization, and airway management Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills in time-sensitive environments Ability to document accurately and timely in an electronic medical record (EMR) system Effective communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams Ability to meet and maintain VA credentialing and privileging requirementsTravel RequirementsTravel to client locations is required for this position and may vary based on project needs.
