Assistant Manager – Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)Position Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the overall operations of the Post by working closely with the Manager to ensure smooth daily functions. This role is responsible for overseeing bar operations, maintaining inventory and ordering, assisting with events, and providing leadership support to bartenders and staff. The Assistant Manager helps ensure compliance with VFW policies, state liquor laws, and gaming regulations while fostering a positive environment for members and guests.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Support
- Assist the Manager in day-to-day operations of the Post.
- Oversee bar organization and ensure bartenders are performing duties correctly and efficiently.
- Monitor compliance with house rules, PLCB (Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board) regulations, and gaming laws.
- Handle opening/closing duties as needed.
Inventory & Ordering
- Track and manage inventory levels for beer, liquor, mixers, food, and supplies.
- Place and receive orders with vendors to ensure stock is sufficient and cost-effective.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and usage to prevent shortages or overages.
Events & Member Engagement
- Assist in planning, organizing, and supporting Post events such as member appreciation days, fundraisers, and holiday gatherings.
- Help coordinate setup, staffing, and supplies for events.
- Work with the Manager to promote events through flyers, social media, and in-house communication.
Gaming & Pull Tabs
- Assist with handling pull tab ticket inventory, sales, and payouts in compliance with state gaming regulations.
- Ensure accurate reporting and accountability for pull tab operations.
Leadership & Staff Support
- Provide guidance, direction, and support to bartenders during shifts.
- Assist in training new bar staff.
- Step in to resolve issues or member concerns in the absence of the Manager.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in bar, restaurant, or club management preferred.
- Knowledge of PLCB regulations, cash handling, and gaming compliance strongly desired.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during Post events as required.

Pay: From $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
