Overview
The VA North Texas Healthcare System is seeking compassionate and technically proficient Health Aides to support our Domiciliary Program—a structured, therapeutic residential setting for Veterans with mental health conditions. This role is vital to maintaining a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct care and supervision to residents in a 24/7 inpatient setting
- Observe and report behavioral and health changes to clinical staff
- Lead therapeutic and recreational activities
- Assist with patient intake, discharge, and daily routines
- Escort patients within the facility and ensure structured engagement
- Maintain compliance with VA policies and medical staff regulations
Qualifications
- Certification: BLS and/or ACLS (current and valid)
- Education: High School Diploma 2 years of college-level coursework (minimum 12 semester hours in health-related fields)
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of direct patient care in a rehabilitation or mental health setting
- Skills: Fluent in English (spoken and written); technically proficient in therapeutic support tasks
- Documentation: Resume/CV with 3 references (including current or last supervisor); proof of education, certification, and training history
