Overview
As a Personal Care Assistant, you’ll provide respectful, hands-on support that helps clients and residents maintain comfort, dignity, and independence at home or in a care setting. You’ll follow care plans, communicate changes, and work closely with clients, families, and care teams. Your impact: Attentive personal care and observation help clients stay safe and support timely responses to changing needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and personal care.
- Observe and monitor clients, record vital signs as assigned, and report changes in condition.
- Support medication administration only as authorized and in accordance with care plans, privacy requirements, and applicable procedures.
- Prepare meals, cook, clean, and provide personal transportation assistance when needed.
- Use safe manual handling, patient transfer methods, and equipment such as a Hoyer lift when trained and authorized; respect each person’s rights and preferences.
Experience
- Experience in caregiving, patient care, home care, home health, or home and community care is relevant. Background in assisted living, group homes, nursing homes, long-term care, hospice, senior care, geriatrics, or nursing is also valuable.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s, dementia, or memory care; experience supporting people with autism, developmental or intellectual disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or other disabilities is welcome.
- Familiarity with direct support, patient observation, client communication, care plans, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy practices, and patient monitoring is helpful.
- First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) skills are preferred. Ability to perform required physical tasks, including lifting, may be needed; follow safe handling practices and role-specific requirements.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
