What are the responsibilities and job description for the Delivery Driver - Compost Collection position at Veteran Compost?
We have a Full-Time opening for a driver at our compost facility in Aberdeen, MD. No previous composting experience is required. Scheduled routes 4x days per week, steady year-round 40 hour work week. NO WEEKENDS OR NIGHTS EVER!
You would be driving a 12-18ft truck and helping us to collect food scraps and deliver bags of organic soil to people. Everyday we keep tons of material out of landfills and create awesome soil mixes that help people grow more food. If you drive for us, you're helping to make the world a better place.
If you don't mind working outside and you're a motivated person, you'll like it here. We work hard, but we have a good crew of people, and we'll never treat you wrong. Must be able to lift 50lbs, drive safely and be able to spend the day on your feet, moving around.
Day-to-day responsibilities for the Driver Position include:
- Non-CDL (aka under 26,000lb trucks)
- Must Have DOT Medical Card or be able to pass a physical
- Deliver bagged and bulk compost and soil products in the Baltimore Metro Area
- Collect wheeled bins of food scraps along scheduled routes in the Baltimore Metro Area
- Assist on-farm with tasks as needed which include:
- Bagging compost and soil products
- Cleaning equipment and compost bins
- General Farm maintenance tasks
$20/hr to start. We offer free dental insurance and a 401K match.
The position is 4 days per week from 6AM-4PM with one weekday, Saturdays, and Sundays off. There are occasionally opportunities to work extra shifts, but in 16 years of business we have never forced anyone to work on a day off.
