Depending on your experience, training, and skill level, your responsibilities may include:
- Obtain patient histories and vitals and assist veterinarians during appointments
- Provide safe, compassionate patient handling and restraint
- Assist with blood draws, sample collection, laboratory testing, and radiographs
- Prepare patients and equipment for surgical and dental procedures
- Assist with anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and patient nursing care as your training and skills allow
- Prepare medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
- Educate clients and help them understand their pet’s care, medications, and next steps
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Keep treatment and exam areas clean, stocked, and ready
- Jump in to support teammates and keep patient flow moving throughout the day
