Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians with urgent medical procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Monitor vital signs and perform laboratory tests such as blood work and diagnostic imaging including X-ray procedures
- Provide thorough animal husbandry, ensuring proper feeding, grooming, and overall care during treatment
- Handle animal restraint with confidence to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations or procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient charts, and document treatments following veterinary terminology standards
- Support pet owners by explaining procedures, post-care instructions, and answering questions about pet care and animal physiology
- Manage kennel areas efficiently, ensuring animals are comfortable, clean, and properly cared for throughout their visit
Experience
- Previous kennel experience or animal handling background preferred to ensure confident restraint and care of diverse species
- Veterinary technician experience or equivalent veterinary critical care exposure is highly desirable
- Laboratory experience including sample collection and analysis to assist in diagnostics
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures for pets requiring oral health assessments or treatments
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe procedures
- Experience with dog training or pet grooming can be an asset for handling pets with special needs or behavioral considerations
- Equine experience is a plus but not mandatory; we value versatile animal handling skills across species
