Position Overview

The Laboratory Technician position will be more involved in detailed testing and use of equipment.  Data collection as well as some analysis is expected.  Successful candidate can note deviations in performance not anticipated.  May occasionally have contact with internal and external customers and vendors. To perform chemical and physical analyses and tests required for research, development, or quality control of processes or products and to aid the relevant Research and Development Scientist.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests to assist scientists in making qualitative or quantitative analyses of materials.
• Perform routine analyses to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of test data.
• Record data and prepares simple charts or graphs.
• Accurately follow work instructions along with established operating procedures and test methods.
• Maintain and clean laboratory instruments or equipment.
• Provide and maintain safe work environment by participating in safety programs, committees, or teams and by conducting laboratory/plant safety audits.
• Provide technical support or assistance to internal stake holders.
• Determine durability, strength, density parameters by utilizing hand tools.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 1-3 years of related laboratory experience
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates Degree or related work experience preferred.
• High School Matriculation
• Technical Diploma

• Continuously stand up to 4 hours.
• Walking short distances through the department/building.
• Use hands/arms to pick and carry product and operate required equipment.

• Read and write legibly. Including very small print.
• Listen to information, and follow directions provided through an electronic headset.
• Continuously stand, stoop, bend, kneel, reach, push/pull, scanning, counting, keying orders, cleaning, carrying, and move freight. Including repetitive motion.
