Speech Therapist
RATE: $47.00-$48.00 hourly depending on experience
SHIFT: Full-time or Part-time
JOB DESCRIPTION:
A Speech Pathologist makes assessments and provides appropriate services to help residents and patients improve and regain skills as part of a comprehensive therapy regimen. This level of care involves problem-solving, working with an interdisciplinary team, and implementing a proactive plan of care to maintain the highest level of functioning.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work under the Director of Speech/Language Pathology to provide speech therapy to the residents
- Assist in screening, evaluating, and treatment of residents by comprehensive care planning
REQUIREMENTS:
- Position requires an advanced degree in speech therapy with a current NYS license to practice speech therapy
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility, subacute care, ICU, and acute rehab preferred
- Excellent customer service skills; cheerful and pleasant demeanor
- Positive attitude and outgoing personality with staff, residents, and family members
- Self-motivated with flawless time and attendance
- Exceptional time management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Respect for residents’ privacy and rights; display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly
- Reviews referrals for speech therapy and physician’s orders; performs evaluations, sets goals, devises treatment programs, and implements treatments based on diagnosis, resident’s condition, and rehabilitative prognosis. Makes recommendations, sends progress notes and consults with the physician as necessary
