What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Engineer position at Vestas?
We’re looking for a Senior Engineer-Grid, Code & Interconnections to join our Vestas Technology team in Houston. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring our wind, solar, and energy storage projects integrate reliably and compliantly into power grids across North America.
What You’ll Do
- Perform power system studies using PSCAD, PSS/E, and PowerFactory
- Support interconnection studies and grid code compliance (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, WECC)
- Apply hands-on knowledge of grid codes, interconnection processes, and electrical grid requirements
- Analyze inverter-based resource (IBR) performance
- Create technical reports and compliance documentation
- Collaborate globally and mentor junior engineers
What We’re Looking For
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred)
- 10 years of power systems or renewable grid integration experience
- Hands-on experience with grid codes, interconnection studies, and electrical grid requirements.
- Strong understanding of IBR behavior and ISO/RTO requirements
- Clear communicator with a collaborative mindset
