Overview
Vesta Wood-Fired is seeking an experienced and hospitality-driven Lead Server to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment, leads by example, and takes pride in delivering exceptional guest experiences.
As a Lead Server, you will help oversee the flow of service, support the front-of-house team, and ensure every guest receives warm, attentive, and professional hospitality. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine passion for restaurant service and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the front-of-house team during service while maintaining Vesta Wood-Fired’s hospitality standards
- Ensure smooth and efficient dining room operations throughout lunch, dinner, and private events
- Coordinate table assignments, pacing, and service flow to provide a seamless guest experience
- Assist servers, bussers, bartenders, and hosts as needed during busy service periods
- Train and mentor new team members on service standards, menu knowledge, POS systems, and restaurant procedures
- Accurately enter orders and process payments using Aloha POS
- Maintain strong knowledge of all food, beverage, wine, cocktail, and daily special offerings
- Upsell menu items, beverages, and specials in a natural and guest-focused manner
- Monitor cleanliness, organization, and presentation of dining areas, service stations, and side work
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
- Handle guest concerns professionally and work toward prompt resolutions
- Assist with private events, large parties, and special restaurant functions as needed
- Support reservation and waitlist management through OpenTable when necessary
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience in an upscale or high-volume restaurant environment required
- Prior leadership experience as a Lead Server, Captain, or Senior Server preferred
- Strong knowledge of restaurant service standards and dining etiquette
- Experience with Aloha POS and OpenTable preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to lead a team with professionalism, accountability, and positivity
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, holidays, and busy service shifts
- Basic math and cash handling skills required
- Wine, cocktail, and food knowledge highly preferred
- Ability to provide warm, polished, and attentive guest service at all times
