Job Summary
Building Architect—Residential & Commercial, required for projects across New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
The Building Architect will design, plan, and oversee high-end residential and commercial building projects from concept through completion. Responsibilities include client consultation, producing architectural plans and renderings, coordinating with engineers and contractors, ensuring code compliance, and supporting every phase from feasibility and permitting to construction and closeout.
Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Design: Lead the architectural design process for residential and commercial buildings—create site plans, conceptual designs, and detailed construction documents.
- Client Consultation: Collaborate with clients to understand goals, preferences, and budgets, translating needs into functional and attractive built environments.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with engineers, interior designers, contractors, and consultants to ensure project integration, feasibility, and quality.
- Code Compliance: Ensure all designs meet relevant zoning laws, building codes, ADA, and safety regulations for New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
- Construction Support: Prepare permit sets, oversee the bidding process, and support contractors during construction to maintain design intent and technical accuracy.
- Site Visits & Quality Control: Monitor progress, resolve design-related issues, and verify that construction meets standards and expectations.
- Sustainable Design: Incorporate energy efficiency and green building practices wherever feasible.
- Presentations: Prepare and deliver design presentations and updates to clients, stakeholders, and government agencies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
- Experience: Several years of experience designing residential and/or commercial buildings. Experience with local codes and permitting processes in NY, CT, and NJ preferred.
- Licensure: State architectural license a plus
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and 3D modeling/rendering software.
- Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills to present ideas and coordinate with clients and teams.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and documentation.
- Detail Orientation: Commitment to both creative vision and practical technical detail in design and construction.
- Problem-Solving: Effective at resolving challenges and adapting plans as needed.
