Verus Research is searching for a Payroll Administrator to support our rapidly growing operation. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for analyzing and processing financial data enterprise-wide; processing semi-monthly payroll, including managing timecard administration, direct deposits, benefits withholding, and payroll deductions; maintaining data integrity throughout the payroll system; and assisting with year-end tax reporting. This posting is for on-site work in Albuquerque, NM.
The Payroll Administrator processes semi-monthly payroll, ensuring accurate wages, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings. This role administers and audits employee timecards for compliance with company policies and government contracting requirements, resolves payroll discrepancies, and responds to employee inquiries. The position maintains payroll system data integrity, performs reconciliations with the general ledger and labor reports, supports internal and external audits (including the annual 401(k) plan audit), assists with payroll tax reporting and year-end processes such as W-2 preparation, collaborates with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure accurate employee and benefit data, and safeguards the confidentiality of payroll information.
Qualifications:
Success in this exciting role will stem from:
- U.S. citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree required, concentrations in business, accounting, finance, mathematics, or management information systems highly preferred
- 2 or more years of experience in maintaining payroll information systems and updating payroll records.
- Experience with enterprise payroll systems (e.g., Paycom or similar HRIS/payroll platforms)
- Familiarity with payroll accounting, labor distribution, or financial system integrations
- Experience supporting payroll audits or compliance reviews
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
