What are the responsibilities and job description for the High-Voltage Test Engineer (208–480V | 3-Phase Power Systems) 📍 Delaware, OH (Greater Columbus Area) | Onsite position at Vertiv?
⚡ Test and validate high-power electrical systems in real-world conditions.
We’re looking for a Test Engineer with hands-on experience in high-voltage (208–480V), 3-phase electrical systems to support testing, validation, and troubleshooting of complex electro-mechanical equipment.
This is not a bench-top electronics role—you’ll be working with power distribution, UPS systems, and high-energy equipment in a manufacturing/test environment.
If you’ve tested, diagnosed, or commissioned 3-phase power systems, industrial equipment, or UPS systems, this is where you can take ownership of critical testing operations.
🔧 What You’ll Do
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of 208–480V, 3-phase electrical systems
- Lead and support witness testing with customers (factory acceptance testing / FAT)
- Develop and execute test procedures for high-power electrical equipment
- Set up and operate test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems
- Analyze test data and identify issues related to power distribution, load behavior, and system performance
- Support prototype, validation, and production testing
- Design and build test fixtures and test setups for high-voltage applications
- Work cross-functionally with engineering and manufacturing to resolve issues and improve test processes
✅ What We’re Looking For (MUST-HAVE)
- Hands-on experience testing 208V–480V electrical systems (3-phase REQUIRED)
- Experience working with high-power equipment, power distribution, or UPS systems
- Ability to safely work around live electrical systems and high-energy equipment
- Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical systems (not just low-voltage electronics)
- Experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, etc.)
🎯 Strongly Preferred
- Experience with UPS systems, switchgear, or power distribution units (PDU)
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, or field service environments
- Familiarity with analog/digital circuitry
- Experience supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT) or customer witness testing
- Military electrical / power systems experience (highly valued)
🎓 Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field
- OR
- Associate’s degree / Military training with hands-on high-voltage testing experience
⚠️ Work Environment
- Work with live electrical systems (208–480V)
- Industrial environment with large-scale equipment
- Physical activity required (lifting, standing, climbing, etc.)
💡 Why This Role?
- Work on real-world high-power electrical systems—not small electronics
- High visibility with customers during critical testing phases
- Hands-on role with complex, high-energy equipment
- Opportunity to build expertise in power systems and industrial testing
