The Controls Deployment Leader – Thermal Management (Americas) is responsible for the execution and delivery of control systems supporting Vertiv's thermal management solutions across data center projects in the Americas region. This role drives standardization, quality, and performance of controls for air- and liquid-based cooling technologies, ensuring reliable operation in mission-critical environments. The position partners closely with engineering, commissioning, and field teams to deliver scalable, high-efficiency thermal solutions while supporting regional manufacturing facilities and customer site deployments.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Controls Deployment Leader – Thermal Management (Americas) is responsible for the execution and delivery of control systems supporting Vertiv's thermal management solutions across data center projects in the Americas region. This role drives standardization, quality, and performance of controls for air- and liquid-based cooling technologies, ensuring reliable operation in mission-critical environments. The position partners closely with engineering, commissioning, and field teams to deliver scalable, high-efficiency thermal solutions while supporting regional manufacturing facilities and customer site deployments.
Key Responsibilities
Controls Deployment & Commissioning (50%)
- Lead deployment of control systems for chilled water, DX, CRAH/CRAC, liquid cooling, and edge cooling solutions
- Execute standardized control architectures, sequences of operation, and alarm strategies
- Oversee control panel configuration, PLC programming, network integration (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP)
- Lead FAT, SAT, and Level 3-5 commissioning; ensure systems meet design intent and performance requirements
- Provide on-site technical leadership during startup and customer handover
- Support integration with customer BMS/DCIM platforms
- Coordinate with multiple production facilities
- Support QC/EOL testing for controls hardware and software
- Create production-specific configuration files and unit programming
- Troubleshoot controls issues during production builds and pre-ship testing
- Develop production processes for new controls options and ETO configurations
- Train production/QC personnel on new controls releases
- Drive thermal performance optimization and energy efficiency (PUE targets)
- Identify and resolve field issues; minimize rework and ensure first-pass commissioning success
- Capture lessons learned; drive continuous improvement across Americas deployments
- Support root cause analysis for field failures and implement corrective actions
- Provide technical escalation support for Field Service and commissioning teams
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls Engineering, or Computer Science (or equivalent)
- 7 years in HVAC controls, data center cooling, or mission-critical infrastructure
- 5 years hands-on with PLCs, industrial controls, communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, TCP/IP)
- Proven experience deploying thermal systems in data centers or critical environments
- Preferred: Production support, QC/EOL testing, manufacturing coordination experience
- Proficiency with embedded controls
- Controls software lifecycle and release processes
- Configuration management tools (PD Cloud, version control)
- Electrical schematics, P&IDs, controls architecture diagrams
- Commissioning tools, test equipment, diagnostic software
- Hyperscale, colocation, enterprise data center customer experience
- UL, NEC, ASHRAE standards knowledge
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) for Mexico/Latin America coordination
- Strong execution and ownership mindset
- Deep technical expertise in thermal management and controls
- Cross-functional team leadership (manufacturing, engineering, commissioning, field service)
- Effective communication with customers, contractors, internal stakeholders
- Problem-solving under pressure in mission-critical environments
