Job Overview:
Vertiq is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and support of advanced electrical and power electronics systems used in our propulsion products. This role will own electrical design efforts from concept through production and work closely with mechanical engineering, firmware, and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong technical judgment who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. The Senior Electrical Engineer will play a key role in developing next-generation motor and ESC technology while supporting production and scale-up efforts. This is a full-time role based in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead the electrical design of power electronics, including ESCs and supporting circuitry
- Own schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, and design reviews for mixed-signal and high-power boards
- Select components and define electrical architectures with consideration for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
- Support prototype bring-up, debugging, validation, and failure analysis using lab instrumentation
- Collaborate closely with firmware engineers to ensure robust hardware–software integration
- Work with manufacturing team to support DFM/DFA, production ramp, and issue resolution
- Develop and maintain electrical documentation, schematics, BOMs, and engineering change orders
- Support new product introduction activities and provide design-for-manufacturability feedback
- Define electrical test plans and assist with development of production test fixtures and procedures
- Support customers by reviewing requirements and designing or modifying custom PCB solutions to meet application-specific needs
- Lead EMI/EMC testing, troubleshooting, and mitigation efforts to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 7 years of professional electrical engineering experience, preferably in power electronics or embedded systems
- Strong experience designing high-power, high-current, or high-speed electrical systems
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Eagle, Altium, OrCAD, KiCad)
- Hands-on experience debugging hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.
- Solid understanding of power conversion, motor control fundamentals, and EMI/EMC
- Experience taking hardware products from concept through production
- Strong communication skills, comfort collaborating across technical and non-technical teams
Salary : $110,000 - $130,000
