About the Role:
We’re seeking a sharp, analytical Premium Auditor to join Vertigo’s growing Audit Division. This is an advanced-level position responsible for performing detailed payroll and exposure audits for commercial clients, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and underwriting integrity across Workers’ Compensation policies.
You will serve as a critical link between our insureds, agencies, and carriers. Validating data, interpreting complex documentation, and supporting our mission to maintain high standards of accuracy and transparency in all audit outcomes.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing email communications, managing the intake, reconciliation, and processing of audits. Supporting the audit workflow from point A to Z.
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit Intake: Review documents, identify missing or incorrect information, follow up as needed, and enter data manually. Maintain documentation standards consistent with carrier requirements and Vertigo’s audit protocols.
- Audit Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll records, tax documents, subcontractor lists, certificates of insurance, and financial statements. Identify and document material changes in risk exposure, business operations, or subcontractor arrangements.
- Audit Processing: Cross-reference policy information against supplied validation documents. Validate class codes, date ranges, and apply state-specific payroll caps and exemptions. Ensure that all audit reports are thorough, consistent, and backed by defensible evidence.
- Problem-Solving: Investigate issues, resolve discrepancies, and collaborate with Audit Support. Escalate complex cases when necessary to resolve discrepancies or complex findings.
- Customer Service: Serve as the primary contact for insureds and agents during the audit process, guiding them through required documentation and deadlines. Provide professional and timely communication with all correspondence.
- Email Inbox Management: Monitor incoming emails, respond within one business day, escalate to third-level support when needed, and categorize emails to maintain an efficient workflow.
- Help Us Grow: Contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives, including SharePoint-based reporting, CRM iterative development and audit quality controls.

Must Have:
- Comfortable interpreting payroll tax forms (941, 940, W-2, 1099) and financial statements.
- Experience with electronic customer service (email, chat, or similar)
- High school diploma or GED
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel,including basic formulas and data entry
Nice to Have:
- Familiarity with NCCI or state-specific Workers’ Compensation classification codes.
- Experience with SharePoint, Power Automate, or similar workflow systems.
