OVERVIEW
Verticals Accounting Advisory (“Verticals”) is currently seeking to expand its team with a position that serves as Managing Director, directly supporting the Founder & CEO in executing the firm’s established vision, mission, and delivery. This new role would lead and guide the teams that provide accounting, financial reporting, and administrator services to clients. Clients view those teams as their outsourced fund administration, fund financial reporting, and real estate accounting that operates at a manager level. Those team members further serve as the clients’ point-of-contact for deliverables and inquiries. Expectation is for the Managing Director to have proven successful experience in directly performing the aforementioned; thus, is equipped to direct teams. The Managing Director is also expected to have existing effective leadership soft skills that align with the Verticals collaborative and supportive workplace environment. This role is to highly excel in leading client relationships, reviewing deliverables, guiding staff, onboarding new engagements, acquiring new clients, and optimizing processes. Typical client engagements entail full-cycle property accounting review and upper-tier entities accounting that we further flow into preparing consolidated financials, waterfall calculations, and investor reporting. Other engagements may be of a special-purpose nature such as system/automation implementations or customized periodic reporting. This position’s capacity will serve several clients that each include multiple engagements. The ideal Managing Director candidate to join the Verticals team would have at least 20 years of experience in real estate accounting and/or audit that included Fund structures, with a track record of excellent client service and team building skills. Successful experience in handling multiple clients with various deadlines, various personalities, and executive-level viewpoints is key.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Managing director will work directly with the Verticals Founder & CEO as well as clients’ executive leadership in a combination of areas across multiple clients, leading teams that provide all-encompassing Fund Administrator and Accounting services to include but not limited to:
§ Accounting and Financial Reporting
§ Fund and mid-tier entities accounting, Transactions accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, and financing
§ Consolidated financial statements with notes -produce and deliver quarterly financials
§ Property accounting – review client's outsourced property accounting; lead annual processes (budgeting, CAM recs)
§ Development accounting – coordinate job cost accounting and loan administration
§ General Partner entity accounting - cash transactions accounting, monthly-close, financial reports
§ Investor Reporting
§ Capital Calls and Distributions- prepare client's proposed amounts and notices, coordinate cash management aspects,
§ NAV Statements - prepare in conjunction with Consolidated Financial Statements
§ Investor portal maintenance - overall maintenance of postings to investor portal, manage connectivity
§ Investor requests management - receive, organize and monitor investor requests
§ Systems
§ Utilize reporting systems to generate portfolio data and reports; initiatives such as automation and artificial intelligence
§ Business Development
§ Actively develop and support all team members through deliverables reviews and guidance
§ Intentionally seek new business opportunities and successfully acquire new clients/engagements
§ Utilize advisory skills to provide service excellence and industry expertise to clients
QUALIFICATIONS
§ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; CPA required; 20 years of experience that includes real estate Fund Administration
§ MRI experience is a plus; Microsoft Excel skill level at least Intermediate
§ Delivers accurate and complete results in fast-paced environments; Professional responsiveness and prioritization
§ Effective and proactive communication that is confident, clear, and concise
§ Strong interest in implementing and utilizing technological advancements such as automation and artificial intelligence
§ Emotionally intelligent in receiving feedback, responding to changes, and leading teams

Salary commensurate with experience
