Join the Vertical Worx team as a Bell 407 Helicopter Pilot, supporting state and federal contracts on Exclusive Use (EU) and Call-When-Needed (CWN) agreements for diverse utility operations. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, this role demands a strong commitment to safety, precision, and professionalism.

Daily Rate or Full-Time salaried positions are available. Full-time positions are eligible for an employee benefits package and year-round work. Contract positions may have the opportunity for additional work in the Hawaiian Islands during the offseason, especially if you have utility and precision long-line skills.
Experience and proficiency in the following major areas:
- Extensive flight operations experience in the Bell 407
- Thorough knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and USFS requirements
- FAR compliance
- Experience in flight and operational planning
- Weight and balance data management
- Fuel management
- Proficient in tracking duty, flight, and maintenance times
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as Pilot in Command (PIC) of the Bell 407
- Conduct utility missions and external load operations
- Operate helicopter accessory equipment to carry out utility missions
- Accurately track and maintain written and computerized duty, flight, and maintenance logs and records
- Maintain weight and balance data
- Manage fuel
- Report maintenance issues to the Director of Maintenance
- Adhere to the Rotorcraft Flight Manual (RFM)
- Represent Vertical Worx as a professional pilot, prioritizing customer satisfaction, aircraft care, security, and cleanliness
- Comply with the Vertical Worx Employee Manual, GOM, SMS, SOP’s, and Ops Specs
- Participate in out-of-town travel, work, and overtime as required
- Positively represent Vertical Worx through a professional and favorable appearance to the public and to our partners
- Satisfactorily complete all company-mandated and assigned training classes and courses within given time limits
- Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the landing zone, including the activities of other employees and contractors, and the movement of equipment/helicopters
- Maintain a consistent, open, and honest line of communication with your supervisor
- Actively participate in the company SMS program
- Make safety a priority at all times
Other Duties as Assigned: Due to the nature of small business operations, it will be necessary to fulfill task requirements of varied nature.
Job Requirements:
- Valid and current FAA Commercial Rotorcraft Helicopter License
- 2,000 hours Rotorcraft PIC of which 1,000 hours in turbine rotor wing and 100 hours in the Bell 206/407; applicant must meet interagency carding requirements
- Meet DOI/USFS Pilot carding requirements and interagency carding requirements
- Must be Previously/Currently OAS carded in Bell 206/407 series
- Medical Class 1 or 2 (current)
- Current Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Prepared to travel within the operational region
- Must pass a DOT drug test
Preferred AND/OR REQUIRED Skills/Experience:
- Currently OAS carded in BHT-407 aircraft (required for higher salary)
- Previous vertical reference experience required
- Firefighting and/or utility and/or military experience required
- Current interagency card preferred
- Instrument rating preferred
- Additional Bell Medium and Bell 407 experience required
- Low Level & Recon & Mountain Terrain
- Helitack/PAX Terrain
- Load <50’ Belly Hook
- Load >50’ Longline VTR
- Water/Retardant, Bucket
- Powerline Experience
- Relocation to Big Island (Kona), Hawaii required; local candidates given preference
Employment Status: W2 or 1099
Group Health and Dental: Company plan; option for employee to insure family members (only applies to W2 positions)
Travel and Out of Town Lodging: Company paid and arranged
Schedule: The Line Pilot will be required to work varied, daily shifts to operate aircraft for Exclusive Use (EU) and Call-When-Needed (CWN) contracts, and utility work assigned throughout the Hawaiian Islands and other selected sites.
