Estimator / Project Coordinator
Position Overview
Ideal Construction is seeking an Estimator / Project Coordinator to play a key role in both preconstruction and project execution. This position is critical to building accurate budgets, winning the right work, and ensuring projects are set up for success from day one.
This is more than a support role - it’s a growth opportunity. The right individual will gain hands-on experience across estimating, preconstruction, and project management, with a clear path toward becoming a Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assist in developing accurate budgets
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor bids
- Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and potential risks
- Support proposal development and bid strategy
- Work across a variety of project types, including property management, tenant improvements, and ground-up construction
- Support Project Managers with day-to-day project execution
- Manage submittals, RFIs, and project documentation
- Track schedules, budgets, and overall project progress
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to keep projects moving forward
- Help ensure scopes, budgets, and expectations are clearly defined prior to project kickoff
- Support procurement and early-stage planning
- Assist in the transition from estimating to operations to ensure a smooth and efficient handoff
- Visit jobsites to understand project conditions, progress, and challenges
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure expectations are being met
- Communicate with clients and subcontractors as needed
- Support follow-up efforts and contribute to maintaining strong client relationships
- Accurate estimates aligned with actual project costs
- Strong bid-hit ratio - winning the right work
- Reduced scope gaps and change orders
- Clean, organized, and efficient project handoffs
- Increased efficiency by freeing up Project Manager capacity
- 2–5 years of construction experience (estimating, field, or project coordination)
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and understand how projects come together
- Detail-oriented with the ability to see the bigger picture
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter who can take ownership and “run with it”
