Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist to support the review, analysis, and completion of commercial Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance policies. This role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, organization, and communication skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Duration: Full Time / Salary
Location: Hybrid (Onsite Tuesday & Wednesday in Baltimore, MD/Sparks, MD)
Authorization: W2 Candidates - No Sponsorship
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze P&C insurance policies to ensure files are complete and accurate.
Review loss runs and claims history and recommend appropriate terms and conditions when needed.
Conduct underwriting calls with clients to gather risk information needed for actuarial pricing.
Review large amounts of data and information for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare and provide underwriting documents supporting eligible coverages for the current policy year.
Explain available lines of coverage and answer client questions.
Coordinate with internal departments to obtain underwriting approvals and sign-off.
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of underwriting experience required.
2 years of experience reviewing commercial P&C insurance policies
P&C insurance license or industry designation preferred.
Captive insurance experience preferred.
Strong understanding of P&C insurance and experience reviewing policies
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
