CONTRACT TO HIRE - Data Engineer/Application developer wanted for an immediate role with our Insurance industry client to be located 5 days week from Iselin, NJ office
This is not open to third party candidates.
- Proficiency in data – design, management, modelling. Strong SQL skills. Basic SQL syntax and reconciliation experience
- Concepts - ETL/ELT processes , Reporting & BI and Data ware housing concepts - SSIS
- Traditional Tools - Microsoft SQL Server BI preferably, Informatica, Oracle BI or other ETL tools
- Modern tools – any experience in modern platforms is a plus (Snowflake, Data bricks, AWS S3, Python coding, etc)
Job Duties:
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex data solutions that support business objectives.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Architect scalable, efficient, data pipelines, data warehouses and data mesh solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient scripts/SQL code following best practices and standards.
- Mentor and guide junior data engineers, providing technical leadership and code reviews.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes to improve team productivity and system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate applications with other business systems.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of professional delivering high performing data solutions, data warehouses, data marts etc.
- Expertise working with platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and/or on-prem (MS SQL, Oracle, Python).
- Proficiency working with data tools/platforms (RedShift, Snowflake, Databricks, Informatica, SSAS etc.)
- ETL/ELT Frameworks: Knowledge of data pipeline tools (SSIS, Informatica, PySpark, DLT (Databricks Delta Live Table) .
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Expertise with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Experience with Property & Casualty Insurance is a plus.
