Vertex Metrology is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Metrology Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in dimensional inspection and advanced measurement technologies, and who takes pride in delivering precise, high-quality results in manufacturing and industrial environments.
As a Metrology Technician, you will work with advanced portable measurement equipment to support inspection, alignment, and reporting activities for customer projects and internal operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dimensional inspections on parts, tools, fixtures, and assemblies
- Operate advanced metrology equipment including laser scanners, laser trackers, portable CMMs, and related inspection systems
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD models, customer specifications, and GD&T
- Conduct layout inspections, first article inspections, and dimensional verification
- Collect, analyze, and document measurement data and inspection results
- Identify nonconformances and communicate findings clearly and accurately
- Support customers and internal teams with metrology, alignment, and reporting needs
- Travel to customer sites as needed to perform field measurement and inspection work
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or degree in metrology, manufacturing, engineering technology, or related field preferred
- Experience in dimensional inspection, metrology, or quality inspection in a manufacturing environment
- Hands-on experience with laser scanning systems, laser trackers, portable CMMs, and other advanced metrology equipment
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Working knowledge of GD&T and its application in inspection processes
- Experience with inspection software and reporting tools
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to travel and work in industrial or customer-site environments
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Preferred Skills
- Experience with 3D scanning, alignment, and CAD-to-part comparison
- Familiarity with first article inspection and dimensional reporting
- Ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing and field service settings
