The Procurement Manager is responsible for leading Vertech’s procurement function and developing the strategy for sourcing supplies and materials required for projects. They oversee the purchasing team, establish strategic vendor partnerships, and negotiate enterprise-level contracts. The manager provides leadership and direction to the purchasing staff and engages in proactive communication with project management and shop leadership.

This job is performed in a variety of environments including climate controlled, indoor environments sitting at a desk, and outdoor construction environments where there will be loud noise, exposure to dangerous situations requiring Personal Protective Equipment, heavy equipment, and high voltages.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s procurement strategy and team for project and operational requirements.
- Oversee creation and approval of RFQ’s, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Negotiate master service agreements, contracts, and pricing terms with key vendors.
- Establish and maintain strategic vendor partnerships and the preferred vendor program.
- Develop and report procurement KPI’s to executive leadership and project management.
- Manage the procurement department budget and drive cost savings initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Partner with accounting on vendor setup, tax-exempt status, and payment terms.
- Oversee returns and resolve escalated vendor disputes.
- Align procurement with project schedules and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Direct inventory management purchasing in coordination with shop leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement of procurement processes and ERP workflows.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of progressive procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Proficiency with an ERP system, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and industrial automation components.
- Strong leadership, team management, and negotiation skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- Time management, organization, and problem solving.
